Monday, December 27, 2010 "Afɛ hyia paa"

Pronounced "a-fey-shia paa"; technically it means 'We met a good year,' or in other words, Happy New Year! But they also (sometimes) use it for Merry Christmas! Go Figure.

So, for Christmas, the Mission had an FM at Elder Ahadgi's [sp?] place, but that's in Adenta. For those not familiar with the local topography, it means a 2-3 hour, one way tro-tro ride - 4-5 hours with traffic on the way home - and a measly 2 hours eating. Thus, it results in a miserable 8-10 hours gone on Christmas, so our District decided not to do that. Instead, we went to Tsokome, and spent Christmas playing in mofty [mofty is the term they use for non missionary attire] on the beach! It was awesome! I'll have pics up soon; Kingsley and Godwin, along with Daniel Adedzo (boy I baptized a little while back) came out and we played catch with the nerf football Elder Nielsen got from his family for Christmas; it was awesome. As you will see, there was hardly ANYONE there, which made it a very enjoyable experience, and we got to lounge in the sun all day. And, of course, I got to talk with the family - a little while at the beach [we couldn't hear him, too much wind in the background], and a little while at the apartment. Needless to say, it was great! Apparently, I have a very terrible, thick Ghanaian accent [oh my gosh - we weren't sure it was him!]; I can hardly hear it anymore. It'll be worse by the time I call next (Mother's Day), and even worse when I get home; haha.

Last note, following family tradition, I got sick the day after Christmas. I think I'll need to have all the rest of the family get sick for me next year, so it will exempt me from it; hahaha. Anyway, being sick and all, this is gonna be somehow short. As I said, pics will be up shortly (hopefully, anyways).

I love you all! And I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a wonderful new year!

This Gospel is True! This Work is Great! I pray that all out there may come and see the truly inexplicable blessings that come from living Christ's Gospel!
