Monday, February 13, 2012 "Come and See"

Elder Holland spoke to us today! It was amazing. However, all my notes are at the apartment, and he'll be speaking to Ghana on Wednesday, so I think I'll just put all his comments into one big letter next week, especially since I have little time. I did mention Grandma Bateman to him when shaking his hand - I got to be first! - and he said "Really?" or something like that, but I'm not sure if he really heard me or understood what I said; I do have a Ghanaian accent; haha. You'll just have to ask him about it, Grandma!

Anyway, I did give a talk in Sacrament on Sunday. I'm happy about that; it shows that the Bishop is trusting us. I spoke on the scripture where two of John the Baptist's disciples desire to know where Christ dwells (John 1:38-39). I broke it down and looked at how each part of it shows us how to be true disciples of Christ and missionaries for the Lord.

I don't have time to go over all of it, but in short I examined where Christ dwells - in Zion, which is when people are of "one heart and one mind" and "[dwell] in righteousness" (Moses 7:18). I then went over "Come and see;" how we must come to Christ to see where He dwells. I then went over "they came," showing that after we know what to do we must follow it. I then examined how it says "they abode with him," showing that once we come to Christ, we must remain with Him. Finally, I went over "it was almost the 10th hour," how these are the last days, and we have little time to labor and do our work (see Alma 34:32-34). I'd love to go over it more, as it was a wonderful talk, so I was told, but I don't have time. We didn't get back till 1630. I'll be typing up all of my talks when I get home though, and putting them on Points of Ponder, so I'll go over it more in detail then.

I love you all! I've been told that they've changed the policies for the pouch system, something about envelopes and stuff, so I'll be asking Pres. about that today. Sorry about how long it's taking; I'm really bad about that. But I do remember you all, and thank you for your letters, and will be writing asap.

Take care! I testify that these things are true. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, and stands at the head of this Church, guiding us through His Prophet and Apostles. Read the Book of Mormon, ask if it's true, and learn this for yourself - no matter how many times you have done it in the past. No greater joy can come than knowing this and following it.
