To start with: I went over my old e-mails and realized I never wrote about this! I think, anyways. Elder Keeng and Elder Omali were set free last week! [in case you are not aware of the story - two elders were in jail in Ghana - the church had been trying just to get the boys arraigned but the Ghana officials wouldn't. A few weeks ago they held a mission wide prayer. They finally got their arraignment and it was determined that there wasn't proper evidence]. Well, they finally had the hearing and were cleared of all charges; they still went back to jail until the final paperwork is finalized and finished. I haven't heard anything since, but they were suppose to be released last Monday. I'll update on how that's going.
That's about it, really. It rained really hard on Saturday, but we were able to get one guy to meet with us; haha. We sat under a small overhang in front of a provision store and talked about the Book of Mormon. He read the entire Introduction, Testimonies of the 3 & 8 Witnesses, and started on Joseph Smith's Testimony. He says he really loves it and believes it's True, because it's so wonderful. We helped him to recognize the promptings of the Holy Ghost confirming that it was True - that desire, that love, that good feeling that it was all right. He's really excited to read more of it.
The only other thing that really happened was, during the storm, we got a call from Mummi Aku to come to her place. When we got there, she discovered that her canopy thing had been flipped over and landed on the clothes lines / roof, knocking down a bunch of branches in the process, so her compound was a mess. We were able to "steal" two brooms and help sweep everything up - this is highly uncommon, as men aren't really suppose to sweep or help in "household labors" here. But, we were able to anyways, despite all the protesting from the women. One older lady even grabbed my arm and tried to pry me away and take the broom! We just kept on working and did it anyways; they appreciated it in the end; hahaha. Aku then gave us fufu with lite soup, which was the reason she wanted us to come in the first place.
That's about it. Baptism this Saturday - Prince Allotey, Aku's nephew, will be baptized. It's pretty awesome; she's slowly getting her entire family to enjoy the blessings! She's a wonderful missionary.
I know this Gospel is True! I love you all, and commend all of you who are reading the Book of Mormon! 5 minutes each day - heck, even 5 verses - is all it takes. Then, just pray and ask God "Is the Book of Mormon True?" See how you feel about it; you will feel happy inside, and you will like it. You just have to have the desire to know if it is, and the willingness to do those small and simple things to gain that wonderful blessing. I know the Book of Mormon is the Word of God.
I recommend Alma 36:12-21. It's one of the best promises and greatest scriptures in the Book of Mormon that has to do with repentance. The promise therein is real; through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be saved from the pains of our past, and we can have peace and joy. I would also recommend this article, which helps explain how this scripture can apply to our lives.
I love you all! May God continue to bless you as you all continue to follow His council and guidance!
